Sort of like those window motors, eh?

if you don't mind the price tag, why not go with the JDM install

aftermarket. for the dealer to fix the bose it will cost 500+ and your HVAC controls will not work as long as the bose unit is out. you also get better and more options with an aftermarket. I just install a JVC X700 from crutchfield $249, and added an ipod cable. now i can play MP3 CDs, connect the ipod, connect a basic MP3 player, and have a USB thumb drive all connected to my one radio. They sell the harness to keep the bose speakers and amps in tact.

going aftermarket ain't cheap either. You can probably find a replacement OEM used on ebay or something for a good price. Then again, now might be a good time to just get a nice nav unit if you don't have nav.

can you tell me exactly how you did that? My CD Player got an error, and i heard that doing it your way can override the CD player and run the IPOD instead? Do you know anything about this?

if you just want to keep the factory and use an ipod there is a PAC adapter that you can use. I dont remember the part number, but there is a video online of a guy installing it and building a custom plate for the ipod to sit in the console in place of the cupholder.

Is there a way to use your oem climate controls with the Metra kit? Prefer the oem look rather than the buttons they supply.
Thanks!!

get the JDM kit, it has the OEM buttons. but i think on average they run about $200-300 for the climate control / trim kit, that plus you need the lower pocket under the radio if your going with a single DIN.

CD Removal??

My cd player gave me the fo error so I replaced with an after market. Has anyone figured out how to get the cd's out of the defective oem player without destroying it?
