Installing XM Radio in 05 Sedan w/ Nav
Installing XM Radio in 05 Sedan w/ Nav
I wanted to see if anyone has installed XM radio into their 05' sedan for full integration into the Nav screen. I asked the dealer how much it would cost and he said $670! When it was a new car, it would have only cost $400 so I am not sure how the cost has gone up. If anyone has any advice or links to another thread, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Max

What do you mean by full integration into the navigation screen? Are you talking about XM Nav traffic thats available on the 07+? I have factory XM and navigation, and the two systems arent integrated together.
the xm unit does not work through the nav screen on first gen coupe and sedan g35's. the sat rad registers through your head unit. you do have control through the steering wheel buttons of stations and volume.
the receiver units are available through riverside, lokey, or everthingg35 for around $200 and is a 20 minute diy plug and play.

Thanks for the replies.. I have included pictures of my interior so that you know exactly what I have. By full integration, I mean that I want the display on my dash or the nav screen if that is how it works. As far as buying the receiver, wouldn't I also have to buy an antenna? My understanding is that I would have to install the antenna and receiver and hook them up to each other and then hook the receiver up to the nav computer or directly to the audio system. Thanks again for the help.

the navigation screen does not display any of the XM and/or radio functions. It is a completely different system, and the only integration it has with the radio is volume control when turn by turn guidance is enabled. The satelite radio unit is seperate and is plug and play, and iirc reading something on another thread, it is placed somewhere in the trunk. You can get XM and Sirius modules from the dealer, and it should include the roof antenna and also installation instructions. If you scroll through all the radio input modes there will be an input for SAT1 and SAT2, or XM1 and XM2.
go to www.everythingg35.com and search for satellite. You will find the entire kit for a great price and it's pretty easy to install yourself for free.
