Line out converter
Line out converter
Hey guys,
Is there a line-out converter that is specific to the G35? If so, where can I find it?
I want to hook up subs and an amp to my stock head unit and speakers, and I have been told that one needs a line out converter to make it work. Is this true? If so, can someone give me some tips on installation, etc.?
Thanks!

I got mine at radioshack, cheaper than going to a car audio place.. here's the thread i used to install my subs to the stock amp

I've heard for the G you don't need a LOC. Copied from a member on an audio forum who owned a G "Nope, no need for a LOC. Actually quite simple to just pull from either behind the HU or at (but BEFORE) the OEM amp. This is flat and unamplified. Splice in a set of RCAs and your set."
Thanks for the responses guys!
Do you know if they make a LOC specific to the G35?
Weird...does it make a difference if I don't have the Bose system? I have a true "base" sedan. No leather, no power seats, no sunroof, no Bose, etc.
The reason why I ask is becasue I ovbiously do not have a factory amp.

I'm not quite too sure to be honest. I know there are stickies and such related to this but I haven't really taken a deep look into them since I'm not even near ready to get a system installed in my car. Still need another amp, kickpods, cut doors possibly, build enclosure and get OEM integration.
If your amp accepts speaker level inputs then you don't need an LOC. If your amp only accepts RCA inputs, then since your car doesn't have the Bose amp, then you DO need an LOC to convert the speaker level to the line level.
You will have to tap the audio signal behind the HU or at the speakers because your sires don't run to the back of the car in the trunk.
I have not heard of a G35 specific LOC. Just get a name brand unit.

By the way, does anyone have a wiring diagram, or any suggestions about the wires behind the HU, etc.?

Hey guys,
Thanks for all of the help!
I installed the subs/amp with my friend today, and they hit hard! We used a LOC from Circuit City. In case I didn't mention it earlier, my current setup is:
1) Stock NON-Bose HU
2) (2) 12" Alpine Type R's
3) Sony 1200w Class D amp
4) Type 1 box
For the wiring I used Rockford Fosgate's install kit which turned out to be a massive pain to connect to the amp since it provided what appears to be 4 gauge wire
I know it's not much, but two subs pushing 500w RMS each bumps quite well in my trunk. For now it'll do. I'm sure I'll move out of my deep bass phase and eventually sell this setup, but for now it's fun.
Here are some pics:

I'll have to get a shot of the finished product tomorrow. Thanks again for all of the help!

Do you have a wiring diagram for the back of the non-bose HU, like which wires to tap? All i can find on the forums is for the Bose HU:
Right Rear (+) = Blue
Right Rear (-) = Pink
Left Rear (+) = Teal ??
Left Rear (-) = Purple
Remote Turn On Lead = Blue/Silver Stripe

Remote Turn On Lead = Blue/Silver Stripe

Check out this link, it has all of the info for the back of the head unit. This is what I used.
