PAC AUDIO PROBLEMS
So I know that there are a whole bunch of threads talking about this but I thought I'd start another just so people will get to see this.
I took my G35 Sedan 2003.5 non-nav to JT Audio and Accessories yesterday to pick up the PAC-Audio adapter. JT was extremely friendly and helpful. At first I was just gonna pick it up from him but he offered to install it for me (Keep in mind this is a saturday and he usually doesnt even work this day). He is very very professional and really knows this car front and back. If you have any other audio/visual things that needed to be done I recommend taking it to him if you are near the anaheim area.
Anyhow, he helps me take the entire dash apart to plug in the PAC unit into the back of the head unit. This disassembly actually takes about thirty minutes and is not as simple as you would think it would be (then again, it might just be me). After that, we plugged in the PAC unit to find out it did not work. The plugs were in the right place and everything was done correctly. Because JT is close friends with one of the physical creators of the PAC unit for our car, he calls him and tells him to come down and check it out, now that is service. The guy comes down with two extra PAC units to discover that they dont work either. He also brought his computer and he spent a couple hours trying to reprogram it on the spot. He worked really hard but to no avail. After talking about the beta cars that they tested this product on, they realized that all of them were sedans with navigation units. This is coming directly from the programmes mouth. He realizes that they must be different but cannot figure out why.
Anyhow, long story short, four hours of my saturday morning later, I still have no audio in. This is not to say these people were not great to deal with. If you ever get an oppurtunity check out JT audio and accessories, hes a great guy.
Anyhow, the programmer told me they would have to go back to the drawing board on this one, sell it just to nav users, or just scratch the project altogether.
So basically, if you dont have a nav unit and you want aux in, consider looking elsewhere, cuz the wait might be awhile.

i was gonna buy it from JT for 105.. he IS the first one to have any sort of stock, because of his close ties with people who are physically inside of PAC. He was also the audio dealer to first do the betas for the product..

cool! I'll stop by next week to get mine installed. Have been waiting for the pac unit for a while now. Hope they work something out for the non-nav owners.

Hey Ahgalpeh,
Do you have the premium (Bose) sound system? I wonder if they only tested this on cars with the premium package. The premium and non-premium have the same plugs, but there is some discussion as to whether they have the same outputs or not...

yeah.. i do have the premium bose sound system.. what they told me was that they realized they only tested on cars with the nav system.. and most people who have the nav system most likely, if not definitely have the premium package (thats just a guess)...

Premium package i.e. Bose is a requirement to the Navi system.
Seems like they need to test it on G35's with no Bose amp/spkrs as well G35's with Bose but no Navi.
That makes 3 different G35 combos! They have 1 working so far. Thats a good start

A little of topic, PAC just doesn't test very well. I bought their OEM-1 product to replace my head unit but keep the amplifier (in a premium system) only to find out that the unit just doesn't have enough power to drive the amplifier. Tech support told me over the phone that the unit will work for this application only to change their mind once it was installed and the symptoms were described. It seems to me after reading this thread that they just make to many assumptions.
After some more research I replaced it with a unit from DavidNavone.com that works.

Alright,
I just spoke to PAC and they told me that they would need 3 weeks to ship out thier orders - because of this issue.
In turn, that means of course all my orders are delayed as well. They are in the process of resolving this issue and hopefully things should be just fine by the time they ship. I will keep you all posted as I get info...
