I'm trying to decide on which HU to go for....

CDA9835 from Alpine

or

DEHP960MP from Pioneer

Both look like great decks. I saw them both in action. The Alpine was easier to use and move around in. The Pioneer has some really cool features and 24bit Burr Brown DACs... Dunno which way I should go. Any suggestions?

i would go with the alpine probably since you say it is easier to use.
I have an AVIC-N1 by pioneer and the mp3 playing capabilities are not that impressive... it seems like Pioneer's controls are tougher to use/learn than most manufacturers.

Go back to the store and take a disc with you and play with both of them extensively. Go with your gut feeling. Which ever you feel more comfortable with.

well...if you are going to build a system...you better look at the specs too....i would go with alpine if you are building a system...its really about what you need...

 

i am an alpine user. but if the pioneer have the burr brown dac, go for the pioneer. that dac is use by high end home system. i think the f1 status HU (cda-79900 from alpine uses burr brown dac.

go for alpine, i had pioneers didnt really like em much, alpines are easy to use, and that ipersonalize is very nice... you cant go wrong with the alpines... and they look better...

i have the cda-9833, exact same as 9835, except w/o biolite, i didnt really like the looks of the biolite, a lil too boring...
