Car Jerks with System On

The car has started to jerk frequently with the system on. All I have is 1 12" Alpine Type R with a 600-watt Alpine Amp (not turned up). The system has been in the car for 3-4 years now. Car never jerked before, but recently when I am listening to music the cark jerks and today the sub kept turning off and on. This summer I had turned down the amp a little bit, but still the car jerks. Feels like its slipping gears. I checked all the wiring and looks good. Any inputs??

Might be some other electrical issue that is causing that. If under warranty I'd take it to the dealer to check it out. If not, maybe an electrician.

I have extended warranty, but Im worried about them blaming it on the system. They already tried not to replace my door panel trim (the leather was coming off) because I replaced the door with Infinity Kappas. When I turn the system off, the car drives pretty normal. I was thinking it might need a new battery, but the battery doesn't really help affect the car jerking.

Have your battery checked. Sounds like the fuel injection is being starved for electicity. If you are running A/C, System, Lights and motor, you are getting close to the limit of the Alternator anyway. You battery may not have the reserve to handle it anymore.

Autozone can check your battery and alternator for free.

acheck the batteries like others have said and if your system is draining your electrical power, you might want to look into getting a capacitor so your battery doesnt drain as fast

Im going to go get the battery checked. Do you think 600watts needs a cap?

Nope, caps aren't needed. You shouldn't even be having problems with voltage drops either with 600w. Seems quite odd. Definitely check batt and alt.

Found the problem, the Negative Terminal on the battery was loose. Do not know how long its been that way. Now the car is running great no more jerks and RPM's seem to be more stable sitting at a red light with the system on.
