Quick question guys.

I have a Pioneer AVIC-F90BT being delivered today for my 2003.5 G35 Sedan. (The radio suffered the well-known short circuit failure and is no longer covered under warranty, necessitating me buying the Metra dash kit for a double din install)

That being said, I have been doing some research around here, and it seems because I had the Bose premium system as OEM in my G, that I would need the Metra 70-7551 harness when I do my install of the new HU for the Bose amp. But when I go to the Crutchfield site, it says that this harness will NOT fit my ride?

Given the particulars I have listed here, do I indeed NEED this harness or not? I have messed around with a little Audio stuff in cars before, but nothing that will be as involved as this will be, so I'm looking for some folks with previous knowledge in this situation to confirm it for me.

Much thanks in advance!
Kevin

Hooking up a Double DIN DVD

My bose stereo is crapping out so I want to put in a double DIN dvd. A local audio shop is trying to sell me a $99 harness to hook up to my Bose amp, but, as mentioned before, Crutchfield sells a simple wiring harness for $13. All I want is the factory sound quality with the aftermarket stereo. Do I really need the expensive harness? Will the Crutchfield harness do the job?

So are you guys using the aftermarket HU's preouts? what voltage? I'm looking at running my front and rear 6v preouts but will get the hi low line converter if 6v preout is to much..

if you use the 7551 you'll want a deck with a high preout voltage otherwise sound level is low

I also used the NN03 and wish I had installed a LOC while my car was apart. At low volume levels there is a low whine... Also, I lost a lot of bass. I'm not sure, but I think if I had a LOC hooked up I could adjust the gain enough for the rear speakers to where I would get all of my bass back.

an LOC is for when you put an amp in and are using the factory radio. the low whine you're hearing is from a bad ground. if you re-ground the deck that should clear up the whine, as for the bass loss if you're using a 7551 you've likely got a deck with a low preout voltage. if you were to use the 7550 harness you wouldn't likely have that issue.
