you should drill 4 holes exactly 1/2" back from the stock holes in the bracket that you screw the headunit to, it will sit flush, then (like my AVIC-N1 unit)

Re: ITS HERE! New Dash + Amps

thanks for the advice guys.
-i have another fuse holder right near the battery in the engine compartment.
-i have no problems with the lights dimming...or maybe just havent noticed it. how do you get your alternator rewound? how much does that cost?
-can you guys think of a new place to put that amp? its pretty big and theres just no space to mount that sucker. i had it on top of my sub before, but that was soo ugly with all those wires everywhere. maybe i can just add a fan near it.
-and when i get a chance, im going to drill those holes. i cant stand it sticking out like that. so ugly.

Re: ITS HERE! New Dash + Amps

A fan might not even be a complete solution since all heat sink designs and internal amp circuit designs are different. Upside mounting many times won't even let the heat go from the circuit to the heatsink like its supposed to. You should just skip mounting it upside down altogether and make some kind of an amp rack.

By the way, getting your alternator redone is pricey... something in the neighborhood of 500.

its been awhile since i did the alternator rewounding...but 500 bucks???, you might get a brand new one for that much!! it only cost me around 40 bucks back in early 90's...i guess inflation really creeping up on me.
