Aftermarket Stereo Questions (Suggestions/Advice)
Aftermarket Stereo Questions (Suggestions/Advice)
Hi,
I am a new owner of a G35, I have always been a BMW guy, but have finally decided to switch, and this car was the reason.
I am very happy with my 2003 G35 Sedan, but I didn't check the CD player when I bought it, so now I have discovered the "CD ERR FO" Error.
I have done a lot of research, and decided my options are as follows:
Fix the changer: Found an ebay seller that fixes these crappy players.
Cost: about $200 w/ shipping and 3 month warranty
"Its a cheap fix, but I can't rely on it not breaking again, especially if it comes from a company that makes a living on fixing these players, and I don't think I like having the cassette player, also the volume button doesn't work for me"
The other option, the one I am leaning towards, is install an aftermarket player. So I was hoping some of you would tell me from their own experience what needs to be ordered, so that I don't have to take apart my car more than once. Also, what equipment you have right now, I noticed the G35 has several spaces for gadgets, ie PlayStation, carputer,...
I am going with a DOUBLE DIN CONVERSION.
I found an eBAY seller selling the kit for around $200.
(I know most of you recommend Yoshi, but this place is local and cheaper)
other MISC adapters I'll need (tell me if there are others):
PAC controller (for steering wheel control) - $100
Wire harness / Antenna Adapter - $50
ALSO, I noticed the double din slot is right behind the shift ****.
Is there a shorter Auto Shifter on the market?
Also, has anyone installed anything in their passenger dash area (computer/playstation) I might do this, but was wondering where how to hook up the power supply, and if it would drain the car's battery if left overnight.
Can you please reply with suggestions or advice.
Which products you recommend?
What kinda setup you have?
How you installed yours?
Precautions? (airbag/codes)
