Help me spend $300 or MORE!!

i have an '05 g35 coupe with OEM XM satellite radio. now, i absolutely love the satellite radio, so much so i actually invested in Sirius and lost 10k...but anyways i dont exactly love that abortion of a radio display that we have in our beloved cars.

so i come up with a grand scheme that doesnt involve buying a double din conversion kit and then a $1000 7" display.. you know times are tough now.

question is, will this XM radio receiver

work with the OEM antenna?, and if not, what would the paint look like underneath that factory dead rat if i remove it and add the smaller antenna that came with the unit above?

also, if everything goes to plan, how do i control the volume and stuff?...through the stock dial and steering controls?

Now, if you have any other suggestions as to how i can fully enjoy my satellite radio, which the OEM headunit has been preventing me from doing for almost 4 years now, let me know.

thanks.

actually you answered your own question - to fully enjoy it, buy a dd conversion kit and then a $1000 7" display - you'll be really happy you did... i recently did and my only regret is not doing it sooner
