I heard a pair in a Magnum a couple years back and they sounded pretty good. What type of sound are you trying to obtain?

I am looking for SQ...something that hits tight...not boomy.

I'm running an Audison Srx 5. I was looking at getting a 10" G5 with the dual voice coil and run it at 2ohms from the amp(roughly 280W to 300W).

The fronts and rear fill, I'll run at 4ohms...about 50W per channel X4.

Maybe put it into a 4080 box???

i was just looking at the amps specs...I'm not sure if the amp is stable down to 2ohms. According to the paper it's not but its not written clearly.

The newest version(2008) is stable into 2 ohms...

Call or e-mail Boston Acoustics. They are really good with their customer/tech support.

Just found out that my amp is 4 ohms at the sub only.

Maybe should I go with a seperate amp for the sub and leave the Audison running as a 4 channel? I really love this amp..its very clean sounding.

Is that a possibility?

I think it would open up more options for me.

Wait, you said your sub is dual 2 right? And amp is 4 ohms? If that's the case, you're fine. You can use it, because you have to wire the two coils together and you can do it either in parallel at 1 ohm, or in series at 4 ohms. Here is a wiring diagram.

I totally understand that part but the amp only pushes 180W to the sub(RMS). Wouldn't be a bit underpowered running at 4ohms?
Thats why I wanted to see if I could run a 2ohm sub...the amp would be more efficient that way.

..and yes the sub would be a dual voice coil for more flexability further down the line.

they use fuses to change the impedance...
