Pics of the coupe box!
Well here is some pics of the coupe sub enclosure. This is the first sacrificial plug, so it is rough. From this stage that you see here we will add the front face that includes a mounting ring that enables you to flush mount your woofer of choice. We are planning to build a silver ring with grill mesh that will go over your sub, similar to your door panels. This will give you a factory appearance. The back of the enclosure will be smooth satin black, while the front will be covered in your choice of materials. Remember this is just a rough draft of the final enclosure. From this a mold will be taken and then we will be able to duplicate. The total net volume is around .8cuft., so a single 10" will work great. For those of you who have two 8" subs this enclosure will also work.

Pic of the enclosure in the trunk just so you can see how big it is in relation to the car.

This is a shot that shows off the fit and finish of the enclosure. Notice how there are zero gaps around the enclosure, it's a very tight fit. When its covered you would not know there were that much space in the corner of the trunk. When I showed my friend the enclosure I pulled it out of its corner and he said "holly crap, I did not know that much space was back there."

This shot shows how much space will be left in the trunk after you install our enclosure. I think this is a small sacrifice for the amount of sub-bass you will achieve.

Yes we are making them for members. Give me about one more week and I will have pricing for you guys. I want them to be priced reasonably so you guys can enjoy more bass output than Bose is giving you. I guess I am trying to save the world from bad high-fi. Also my coupe does not have the Bose system so I do not have any bass what so ever. I wanted to help out guys like myself that bought the car knowing that they would one day up grade the system.

Re: Pics of the coupe box!
this will be an awesome setup if you get the proper sub, amp, and grille to protect the speaker...
count me in!
whats the material and will it stand up to a JLAudio W7? those speakers require 1" MDF... one last question: how does this mount to the trunk?

Re: Pics of the coupe box!
I never intended this enclosure to house a sub as large as a 10w7. I personally do not see the point in a larger sub as the W7. I know that sub inside and out. I attended the JL W7 certification classes when they were first released. First off you need a very powerful amp to realize the subs full potential. Then you need to make sure your charging system is up to the task of feeding that monster amp enough juice. You must also ensure you are running the correct size wire to the amp, usually 4 guage or larger. In the end you end up using most of you small coupes trunk for your large amp, stiffing capacitor, distribustion block, and sub enclosure, which you spent a small fortune on. I have seen this happen way to often and the customer allways down sizes in the end. To make a already long story short. I would build a specific enclosure for you guys that want to use larger subs like the W7. The enclosure would protrude out more due to the fact that the sub takes up more space in the enclosure and requires a all around thicker structure. I could imagine at least four more inches of trunk space would be eaten up. But all in all not a problem. I am here to make you guys happy. I think your last question is how does it mount. I drove very agressively with the prototype box in my coupe. It did not budge! But I do realize when the box is loaded with a sub it will stand a chance of moving around. If you look at the pics of the back of the box you will notice some 1" channels. This will allow you to put small strips of velcro on the back. The loop side of the velcro will be stuck to the trunk panel of your coupe. This will allow you to pull the box in and out without tools so you can access your spare. We have done this before and it works great and is simple. When you are ready to sell the car just pull the loop side off of your trunk panel. No side effects.

Re: Pics of the coupe box!
sign me up, i need one...
anyone have any suggestions for the "proper" sub and amp to make that sound the best it could? it seems this board praises JL like a god when it comes to subs, so i'm assuming most people will respond with a 10w-something...
any help would be appreciated, and (probably) count me in for a group buy if there's gonna be one...thanks.
