Double Din Dash, AC Controller and aftermarket Navi Install

I have a 2003 G35 Sedan automatic w/ the black interior. I bought a double din kit for my aftermarket navi and it came with these horrible soft grey rubber AC controls instead of the solid stock black ones. The company I bought the double din kit from also forgot to mention that it came in silver/grey instead of black.

Anyway I contacted JsGarage, this guy named Yosi or Yoshi from Japan who sells the black double din kit as well as the AC controller.

So here's my question, this guy sells the Double Din and the AC controller seperate. Is the stock AC controller that was originally in the car removable (still attached to the single din multi disc cd changer unit that I removed) and does it fit on a double din setup? Or would I have to purchase the one that he's selling?

Pic#1, the stock cd deck that I removed with the solid stock black ac controls.

As I understand it, the stock AC controller is part of the one circuit board which controls both the AC and stereo, thus the AC controller can't be removed or transferred to the double DIN unit. So you must purchase the JDM AC controller to work with the double DIN unit (i.e. pic #4 from your post).

I'll second G35papa, the stock single din dash controls are not compatible with the double din kits. I was going to do this conversion on my old '04 sedan, but decided not to because of the hideous buttons. The silver finisher doesn't look so bad, but if you wanted it black you could easily paint it. Here is another link where you can purchase the AC control. It is the silver finisher and JDM AC control (I found this after I sold my '04, oh well).

I don't know how much JsGarage charges for just the JDM control, but it might be handy to have an extra finisher so you can play with painting one of them if you wanted.

from the looks of it #2 is the Metra double din kit. w/ the beefy ac controlls.. your best bet is to buy the JDM double din w/ ac controlls & paint it black.
