I have the metra integration harness and looks like the black ground wire is connecting to the grey wire.. however my stereo is not turning one. I used a voltimeter and looks like the grey wire is not ground.... any help would be appreciated.
metra harness part # is 70-7551
I have a 04 g35 coupe
remove your black grounding wire from the grey one and find a bolt in the trunk you can ground it to.. the big piece of metal that is the car will be fine to ground the wire to.
is this what everyone else did? is there a correct ground wire ? whats the red wire with yellow strip in the same plug for? I used voltimeter to find that it gives me a correct reading.
I have an aftermarket deutch connector but the factory 3 wires fell out cant find it in the manuals. Thos fits the alternator but the colors dont match please help.

my buddy got a little to eager with the pry bar and destroyed the gray plug it left the pins behind i was going to just repin the replacement plug but they look a little different i just need to know what wire correlates with what. Assuming black would go to the ground and one must be ignition havent had to wire many alternators
I believe your original alternator only had those two wires in that plug - Light-Green w/Blue stripe on pin-4 and White w/Red stripe on pin-3. The main ground and power connections were individual wires connecting to their own posts - Black for ground and Black w/Red stripe running to the battery (fusible link). Hope that helps.
Did you get it fixed? I have a similar issue. I went a little wild with the snips and cut mine at pretty much the same spot as your plug. And yes it’s a 2 wire plug. I ordered a new one but I’m having trouble getting to the other end of the wires I cut to connect this new plug. Just wondering if you had any tips to make it easier. I contemplated trying to find where the wires go to so I can just splice a new wire in from the top of the motor but I’m not sure where these go and if the colors change anywhere along the way.
