Satellite Antenna Quesition...

i'm putting in my avic soon, and will be keeping Sirius. i have bought an aftermarket Sirius brain that i can remote mount anywhere and have the avic be the tuner. this brings me to my main question. I'm REALLY hoping for some good news... can someone tell me if the stock antenna uses the normal connector so i can reuse it, and not have to have two turtle shells? and if not, and i have to use the aftermarket one, can i mount it under plastic with no interference(i REALLY doubt this will work, but its worth a try) like you can with the GPS antenna?

if it's thin plastic you can generally have it work. if it's anything more than about a 1/4 inch no dice. as for the the factory ant... I dunno.
it's a possibility BUT you may have to break off the connector (plastic around the connector on the antenna side) and it depends if it's a single or double connector on the factory ant.
