Im gettin a Passport 8500 x50. Im guna get the direct wire cable, and is there any place i could "hide" the detector so its still very usable but unseen? i was thinkin in the ashtray.. so it would just flip out normally with the tray. i have an 07 coupe. ideas appreciated

 

Well any radar detector works off of a line of sight principle. Putting it in your ashtray wont do you much good. Unless your talking about a remote indicator or something. Many people, myself included, use Mike's Mount which hangs the radar detector right below your rear view mirror. Then you just hardwire it directly to the mirror.
