Programming SWI-PS help.

i'm setting up and programming the swi-ps and I'm on the programming part of the tutorial and I'm having trouble setting it to version three.

I grounded the yellow wire from the g35 harness by tapping it into the ground wire from my after market radio harness.

I tapped the red wire from the swi harness into the power source wire on my aftermarket harness and I did the resistors correctly with the white wire from the swi unit to the red and green wire on the g35 harness

I tapped the black wire from the swi harness into the same ground that is on my aftermarket harness and its also being grounded by the yellow wire from the g35 harness.

When I hold the program button while the car is off and then continue holding the button and then put the car in acc and then let go of the button the red light is still on instead of turning off.
(The red light also comes on when i just hold the program button even before i turn it to acc) If i wait for it to turn off approximately 10secs later I press the buttons three times and it doesnt blink each time I press it.

Since the red light doesn't turn off I tried pressing the button three times, this time it blinks with each press of the program button but when it blinks to indicate which version it is in it always blinks 5 times.

Do I need to redo the grounds?

Thanks for the help sorry for the long post just trying to be detailed.

Should I have tapped the red wire from the swi to the acc wire on the aftermarket harness? What I have now it is tapped into the 12+ wire on the after market harness

it shouldn't matter what power wire you tapped into when programming. Maybe try splitting up the grounds so they all aren't grounded in one spot. I have had times where I have grounded too many things in one spot, and a few things didn't work. Maybe that can be your issue?

i first tried tapping the red wire from the unit to the acc wire and the problem went away. I think with the constant power it confused the unit. Thanks for the help.

read the instructions VERY closely. first time I programmed one I messed up about 12 times cuz I'd miss this step then I'd get that step then I'd miss another. and is the PS a universal with an infrared light? and are you using the remote to program
