Ok .. well anyways...i have had my silver Japanese AVX for over a month now and i still haven't received my double din from j garage..... anyone who has here kno how long they had to wait before they got theirs in? ANyways...with the japanese version..there is an extra hard drive slot so i can add the navigation later in the summer. Also i am able to split screen the dvd/nav nav/radio.... u get the picture. I would hurry and post up pics...but damn j garage laggin =(

You obviously have the Japenese radio tuner and not the US tuner, correct? Are you just going to do sat radio and forget local broadcasts?

Also, I am one of 20 on the Eclipse dealer council and I just want to let you know that the US navigation hard drive for the AVX2494 has not been approved yet. This means, that I doubt you will see it this summer. The US version has the slot also.

I just installed a Kenwood DDX-7015 and love it. It can play MP3s/WMAs off of DVD-R so you can get 4.7 gigs worth for about 2 bux a disc. Not bad, especially if you have a huge collection that won't fit on a 20 gig hardrive. It also has 5v preouts and has an optional add on dsp/5.1 decoder. Other add ons available are HD Radio, Sat Radio, TV Tuner, Nav, etc. Just my 2 cents. I'll post a pic when I get a chance.

 

So the AVX 2494 is not really available yet huh

Here is an email response from Eclipse. My contact is on the road, but this person is in sales. I copy/paste, that is why it looks a little funky. I also have an availiablity report from Eclipse that shows it being OPEN. OPEN means available and shipping.

1 question???. Why does the copy/pasted info "straight from Eclipse" say AVN 2494 , you asked about the AVX2494 didnt u? This seems 2 be kinda odd dont u think? Did u not catch that or did u just miss type ??

 

She must have missed typed it. Good catch, but there is no AVN2494 and on my latest availability report, it does say AVX2494.

I will tell you that I called my buddy whos the Eclipse dealer and got him to call Eclipse 4 me and find out the real deal.
I have 2 say that it seems that u r correct (kinda) the AVX2494 is now available and will start being shipped out from Eclipse starting on FRIDAY. THANK GOD
I don think that the dealer $ is bad. what i am still trying 2 find out is if the unit has Pre-outs or not, the web and the actuall Eclipse brochure r real vague. it seems that the unit has no Pre-outs. If it does in fact have some how many and r they 8volt, 55ohm??? i know that is says that the AVN has 1.8 or 1.6 Volt outputs which is not so hot 4 an Eclipse unit.

Here you go!! Your buddy is wrong. The units have been since mid March, but your buddy probably doesn't get as high of allocation as we do. We are very connected with Eclipse and were their Retailer of the Year two years in a row.

i wonder if there's a way to take that 20GB harddrive out and connect it to your PC, then dump music files onto there so that you dont have to do that lame "real-time" cd-ripping, what a horribly thought-out feature!!!!
There's gotta be a way to get your music onto there without having to play the entire CD.... thats really tedious and stupid.

You sure about that Rambo? I haven't had a chance to hook up my dvd burner and try it yet, but I've heard on another board that it does. I'll try it out next week and snap some screenshots and post the results. Here are a couple threads talking about it on the phatbox forums:
