HID question..

For those of us who have factory lights, you guys do notice how when you first turn them on they are a bluish color but within seconds they adjust to a pure white.. My question is, does this occur for all cars with HID/Projectors?

I wish they could stay dam blue. lol

yes, it happens with all Xenon headlights. The gas needs to heat up so when you first turn the lights on, theyre bluer...after a few seconds the gas in the bulbs heat up and go to their normal color.

lights just warming up... if you want the bluish tint get 6000k bulbs

Why is this in the Audio, Video & Electronics section?

^^So the factory HID headlights are 4300K right? Is 5000K pure white or is it still bluish?

As stated, HID's tend to have a bluer color when they warm up. However, this is not specific to projectors.

Stock is about 4300K.

5000K is much whiter, but not much hint of blue. They look white compared to the "yellowish" appearing stock bulbs.

I am happy with my 5000K.

I like maximum output with 4300K + clear lens/shield mod

I liked the TSX clear lens as well, but the constant "yellowness" got to me. Philips 5000K I feel are a good compromise. I think they are still rated at 3100 lumens. Huge difference in terms of color compared to the stock 85122+.

Blue spectrum light occurs at around 6000-8000K, when you go to 10-12K, you start seeing purple light.

The human eye cannot see blue that well, so the higher the K value, the less you can actually see.

5000K is a nice compromise of white light without reducing your ability to see too much
