Enclosure Size
I'm looking to maximize the height of the enclosure I'll be making in my '06 sedan. Just wondering what is the TALLEST sized enclosure people have put in their G sedan that has been pushed back all the way towards the cabin. If it makes any difference I do have the Bose package. I'm hoping I can fit my 15" without having to make a wedge for it on the front side.
depth will probably be your biggest issue if you want to use a DECENT 15. why a 15 anyways? you're also going to have to take into consideration the amounting area of the sub. you may have to glass at least the front on the box. the 4080 enclosure holds a 10 well and from what I've seen SNUGGLY fits a 12. the 15 MAY be pushing it.

I'll be using an oldschool 15w6. The reason I chose it was due to its high efficiency, low Fs, and minimal enclosure space (1.25 cubes sealed). I will be going with 1.5 cubes sealed which equates to what I see the Zenclosures and 4080 boxes have for their dual enclosures. The front and rear is not really much of a big deal, it will be a wedge style enclosure, however, it will be a wedge on both the front AND rear face. I will then create a baffle that will make the enclosure look flush, as Zenclosures do. I've even thought about corner loading the 15 like the 4080's, but I don't know if that would work.
Reason for going with a 15 is because I like larger subs because I don't see many people running them and I also like it when people try to tell me they aren't as fast as 10's or other small subs and that they are only to get loud and such.
I was going to use a 10" sub I have, but I'd rather not because it needs too much power and I've always wanted to run the oldschool W6, but people would swear I'm running multiple subs.
I really wanted to run the 18w6, but I don't want to fire up the driver like I did with my other 18's in my previous car. Plus, the 15 surprisingly has a lower Fs than the 18.
I measured about 16" for the height, so I'd be cutting it close, but that doesn't mean it will fit. I made an enclosure for my previous car that was a couple inches shorter than the area it needed to be in, but due to its large size I was a half inch too large.

best I can say is good luck with the box. try it out and see how it sounds. I personally hate the sloppiness of anything over an 11" there's the odd 12 that's decent but you're paying out the *** for those guys

Gotta get it in the right enclosure. My 18's were NEVER sloppy. They were very accurate and played double bass extremely well, they sounded smooth, and very musical. People are really surprised once they hear a setup before being told what it is.
I've owned a multitude of subs, from 8's to 18's. I'm not saying 18's and 15's aren't better than 10's, it all depends on the install. One of the 10's I have is a prototype from TC Sounds and it gets lower than many 15's and 18's. It packs plenty of punch and doesn't require much airspace, just needs about 2k - 2.5k for optimum output. Lowend and being musical is what I prefer and a pair of 12's or more is what will be needed to achieve the same goal as the 15 I'll be using. I can save space, weight, money, and power using a single sub as well. I've always been a fan of running a single sub and the shock I see on people's faces.
Only way I would be running a 10" is if the underhung sub I had didn't blow. With a mere 750w and .7 cubes sealed (with air leaks) I was pulling off numbers close to 136 on tones. Sadly, a 20 Hz sine wave and not being able to turn the volume down in time brought an end to the sub.

Is yours completely vertical or slightly slanted? I noticed that the cover for the rear deck can also be pushed up a little...seems like it's got a little give to it.

SPL? Far from
I used to be. Even when I had 3k of power to my 18", the majority of it was for when I had the urge to crank it a bit. Other than that I'm more into the SQ scene. I can't do a completely flat setup, it's just not my taste...I need to hear and feel some bass. I prefer a setup where the sub stage blends with the frontstage. Front stage NEEDS to be eye level centered to the vehicle, wide and deep.
I know guys running a pair of 15's IB, or even trios of 12's IB and they get loud as heck, probably can do about 140 on music, but that doesn't mean they are SPL setups. There are numerous SQ vehicles that have the ability to get loud. I forgot who it was, but they won an IASCA comp and were pulling off numbers I think around 143 dB.
