personally for an upgraded Bose in a luxury car i think it's pretty crappy. maybe its the speakers, maybe its something about the car...i don't know what. all i know is all the other luxury cars i've owned or driven (acura, other infinitis, lexus, bmw, etc) it's the worst by far. just my .02¢

the reason why the Bose system is so scutinized is because it isn't a true bose system. the headunit is clarion as are the speakers. they are not the typical bose setup of 1 and 2 ohm speakers. the only thing that i think is bose is the amp.
clarion is the main manufacturer of Nissan's "upgraded" stereos

^ so you're saying it's Clarion even though it says "Bose" and is advertised as such? interesting...didn't know the two companies where related...why would they do that?

its almost like bose doesnt wanna get into the car market??
I would like a little more bass than whats out of the stock system (hence a new sub) but other than that i dont think its too bad. I handsdown aggree an aftermarket one is better, but for the cost of replacing it, i dont think this one is terrible. However, my dads I30 seems to have much more power and bass, and its only 4 speakers and 2 tweeters.. so who knows.

>my actual bose system in my house beats it by a mile though

It's nothing great but you can make massive improvements on it for $100. I just chucked the stock amp and replaced it with an el-cheapo Sony I had laying in the closet. The difference is huge even while using the stock speakers....

well it's labeled Bose because the Bose amp is back there. let's be honest clarion amps aren't that great. never have been and likely never will be - Sorry to those with clarion amps but open it up. you can have a game of chess on the surface of the bored. Nissan has some sort of licensing with clarion I'm sure of it cuz before this I had a Sentra Spec-V with the Rockford System, took it out and it was ALL clarion. this one at least had a Bose amp (however I haven't tried taking the amp apart....yet).
Best thing you can do with the Bose system is replace the deck that will get rid of the "Bass Roll off"

What is bass roll off you may ask....
As the volume gets louder it's the bass that makes speakers distort, the speakers are trying to reproduce notes at a level that cannot be reproduced so they start distorting. Bass roll off is a algorithm placed into the main signal distributor (deck) that reads the music and determines what notes COULD be harmful and avoids them completely that's why there's little bass at higher volumes and why you may think you're going crazy but there is more bass at lower volumes. that's the medium length version
