That looks nice.. I really wouldnt mind changing the OEM radio for an AM unit like that, but I really enjoy the steering wheel controls, and I have NO idea if you can make them work w/ AM radios.. haven't done the research yet.

I LOVE this unit. you can adjust each EQ seperatly to get the sound you want, there are so many options and features on this radio its amazing.

It does pretty much everything and I got it at half msrp so I couldn't pass it up.
-Sounds awesome
-GPS, turn by turn Nav
-Plays DVD, Divx, and AVI movie files
-plays MP3 through a SD card or USB
-HD/XM/Sirius Radio
-Ipod control
-touch screen
-voice commands
-bluetooth/cell phone integration
-retained steering wheel function through PAC-SWI-PS module

[edit] also forgot to mention there is a whole forum dedicated to hacking these units. www.avic411.com turns out these units are running some kind of embedded windows CE so there is alot more functionality to be had! [/edit]

That is awesome. I am waiting for the temperature to get back in the mid 40's before i start doing this in my 04 Sedan. I notice you have the coupe so i guess you have no issues with the JDM gap on the radio? Or are you using the Metra Kit?

i had some issues with it, I have the JDM kit and fitment was horrible, thats why I drilled out the bracket so the radio sat flush with the botom and the sides, then I put a piece of black closed cell foam on the top so it looks OEM-ish

Ohh i see now the foam you are talking about. You pick that up at a local hardware store I assume. Without the drilling, was the unit sitting flush with the top then? Why did you choose to flush it at the bottom? Did you also get the steering wheel controls?

I've been wanting to get a DD for awhile now and might pull the trigger soon. I've been running speakers/amp off of my stock HU. How does the sound quality compare to the stock HU? Is it THAT much better? Thanks.

I was planning on running a clean sweep and JL 4 channel amp untill I came by a deal on this HU. additionally, I was planning on keeping the amp for this HU as I thought the quality would be lacking.

I was actually very suprised at the sound quality of this HU enough so to make me sell the amp to recoup some cost as it wouldn't be worth the effort to install.

its powerful enough for me and my alpine type-x 6.5 components.

without drilling, the HU stuck out about .5" and was centered in the slot, there were still gaps above and below at that point that anoyed me. so I adjusted it to the botom so I wouldnt have to put two foam peices in.

Did you get the steering wheel controls? How do you like them? Are they worth it?

yeah i got the steering wheel to work with the PAC-SWI-PS module, it was a btch. took like 1.5 hours to figure out how to program it. and the controlls arn't as good as stock, there is a slight delay involved, not horrible, just takes some getting used to.

I'm glad you noticed it... I thought I was the only one having some problems with the delays... did you ground your parking brake wire so you can watch dvds while in motion? And do you know how to get rid of the beeping sound?
