Stock navigation in non navi G35

I would like to put the stock navigation system into my car, I know that this would cost a lot but im just curious of exactly how much. If anyone else has any other ideas for a navigation system that would look clean please respond with suggestions. thanks

$6000 to get a factory nav installed. WILL NOT be covered under Infiniti warranty. Also ECU would havew to be changed as well as a new main wiring harness. Go with an aftermarket unit. It can be mounted in the nav cubbyhole.

mstil35 your setup looks very clean. How's the setup though?

Do you use both the stock HU and the aftermarket HU together?
Or just keep the Stock HU for show and use the aftermarket HU with NAVI for everything?
Was it hard to install in the cubby?
Lastly, how much did it cost?

Looks very sweet man.

Re: Stock navigation in non navi G35

I have the Bose patched thru the Kenwood HU which is hooked to a JL500/5 amp. I listen to Sirius mostly (Thru the Kenwood Sirius Tuner) I have the Bose plugged into the Aux input of the Kenwood so I can utilize the stock steering wheel controls to control the Bose.
As far as the install, they had to modify the main heat/ac duct (cutting off the flow to the rear seat vents)
Install was $700, Kenwood 911dvd was $1600 ,and the Kenwood Nav unit was $1200

whoa... everything sounded tight until the rear seat vents being cut off. I know i won't be having too much passengers (me = workaholic) but man, still seems kinda drastic.

More stuff to think about. Thanks bro. Any additional info would be sweet.

An interesting install there. Where did you have it done?

mstil35-

Very nice setup...a few questions:
-Is it toushscreen?
-Does the cubby hole lid close all the way?
-Do you need to hook it up thru an amp if you just wanted to use it as a DVD/Nav unit?

The work was done at Freeman's Car Stereo in Charlotte.
Yes, It is a touch screen.
The cubby door lacks about 1/8" from closing flush.
You do not nescessarily have to hook it up to an amp. The 911dvd unit puts out 22w per channel or you could use an FM modulator through the stock unit. The nav unit comes with a single powered speaker for the voice guidance.

Nice...now I just have to find a reputable installer in the DC/VA area, or I might have to take a trip to NC.

I am going to do that same install, is that something i can do on my own, i am going to use a Pioneer AVIC-N1 with a 6.5" LCD. is there ne way that the A/C will not get cut off in the back? I live in AZ, not too smart to be cutting off any A/C

Re: Stock navigation in non navi G35

It depends on how far the head unit fits inside the cubby. If you want the cubby lid to close, you would have to slide it as far down as possible ( this is where the ac duct mod comes in) If you want to have the head unit protruding out of the top of the cubby, you would not have to cut the a/c duct, but then the cubby door would not close. You could probably install it yourself, just take your time. After having mine in and out so many times, I could probably do it in my sleep now!!

So does your A/C work properly the way you have it installed?

Yes, the A/C works but not the rear seat vents (the ones mounted in the rear of the console)
