Amp won't turn on :(

What connections need to be made in order for the amp to turn on? Do any of the audio cables need to be connected? Meaning the amp only turns on if it receives a signal? My power and ground are true, i tested the connections at the terminal with a 12v light. Or could the problem be with the remote lead wire? I don't have a head unit connected right now, so does the lead wire not get a signal either without something connected on the other end?

Need the lead wire on. If you just wanted to test that your amp will turn on you can connect the 12v battery. Would suggest disconnecting the battery while doing that though or you will probably pop the fuse. Lead wire to the amp is connected to the remote turn-on from the HU.

If you hear a loud BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZT, and a sharp pain in your fingers, let go.=)

You need to have 12VDC and ground connected obviously, and then the remote wire needs to be at 12vdc whenever you want the amp on (I.E. when the car is running). You can connect this wire to a variety of sources, but it usually goes to the remote output of an aftermarket head unit.

The remote wire is a signal wire only, no significant current draw will be on it, so you do not have to worry about blowing fuses when you connect it. For a quick check of your amp touch the remote turn on terminal to the 12vdc terminal.

For what its worth, back in the day when I installed professionally, I used to use my car keys (metal) to short out the two terminals, never had any problems at all and saved the hassle of making a jumper wire when testing defective systems.

In order for amp to turn on you need 12V power wire from batt, ground wire and remote (ACC) wire .

If those three are connected Amp will turn on. Of course you must have the key in and in the "ON" position

Ersal , Why dont you just give me a ring....

sounds like simple fix

Got it to turn on.... not having a HU was the culprit. Thanks all!
