ZEnclosures G35 2-10" Subwoofer Enclosure - how much actual air space in one?

I am looking at purchasing the ZEnclosures G35 2-10" Subwoofer Enclosure for my coupe. The ad on ebay lists them as having 0.80 cubic foot, but then it says that there is only 1 chamber and that the 0.80 cubic foot is the total space within it....I find it hard to believe that they would only allow 0.40 per subwoofer.

Can someone please tell me the actual airspace within one? Further, did you guys find them to "choke" your subwoofers from air and cause them to only hit high notes?

Thanks

it is actually that tiny. Very poorly designed for the coupe and certainly not optimal for any 2 subs. Go with dual 4080 boxes if you want 2 10's

I read the same thing which sounds really odd to me. You'd think it would have to be 1.4cf or so to be reasonable

okay I contacted zenclosures and even they do not reccomend the box, look what they wrote me:

Hi
The box is .80 total...0.40 per sub. We recommend this box for 1-10" or subs that work in a small box when going with two.

Sweet paint, 1.7cf airspace and a lot less than 2 4080s...

shallow mount subs work with about .4-.7 cubes of air

just a matter of getting the right sub for the box

look at Rockfords slim line
or maybe even tang band?

agreed, i got one with 2 JL w3, they really don't hit as hard as they did with my big box that barely fit in the G's trunk. Don't get me wrong, it still hits hard, you just have to get the right sub as someone above just said! JL W3....not the best one cuz if i push one sub lightly, i see the other sub move in the opposite direction, as if there's not enough air space inside...come to think of it, is it possible to modify this sub box? Can i take off the back, add about 2 inches of MDF all around, make sure its sealed, then put the backing back on???

You could do that, or even take off the sides and make it wider.... I think there's plenty of space on the sides as well! Hell, take the whole back off and re make it haha.

I have this box with one 10" JL W6 and it works pretty well!

The OP, you could also reverse mount the subs.... that way you've got the basket sticking out into the trunk space, this would give you a lot more internal volume.

invert mounting would only give you about an extra 0.05 to 0.1 cubic foot per driver (depending on the driver) which in my opinion isn't much at all...but I suppose if you are dealing with a 0.8cubic foot box in total, then it makes a difference. overall this box is WAY too small for 2 10's....its ideal for 1 10", and that is the model I would buy if I were going to.

there was someone local to me selling the zenclosures dual 10" enclosure, that was the only reason why i was interested in this enclosure to start. however if I have to modify it, I will build my own enclosure from scratch.
