Kenwood DNX8120 audio settings

I just bought a DNX8120 for my 03 coupe. I am currently running the stock bose system. Since there are a large amount of audio settings to mess with on this unit...does anyone already have it tuned? Thanks.

I had one of these units and will tell you you will have to sit down and tune it to your likings. I had a full all out system so tune it to what you think sounds good.

If you are running the stock bose id set the eq to flat, both eqs (front and rear)
are you running a sub?

Its all really subjective to what you like.

I like alot of midrange so my mid eq is boosted just a little.

You also need to set the time alignment to really enjoy the unit.

You need to find a place away from people and turn up your radio, brind cds/ipod whatever music you like and tune.

Im still not 100% on my settings and Ive had the 8120 for 2 years

I took some time yesterday and set most of the audio settings to my liking...however, I feel like the bass is lacking at low volume. I have found numerous sources online that say this unit has a loudness setting that should take care of this problem but I can not seem to find it anywhere when looking through the unit, or in the instruction manual. Does it even exist?

I am not currently running a sub. I did do some adjustments on the time alignment but didn't tweak the Xover at all. I think setting the speaker size does this a little anyway.

The 8120 is not made for really bass heavy music.
Its geared toward SQ and such.

Not distorted bass

Not to say SQ cant have alot of bass.

There is no loudness becasue loudness adds distortion, BBE adds distortion,

If you want boomy bass get a Pioneer, most have loudness (low, mid, high) and BBE.

Kenwoods have this also but not this model

hold the ATT button, you get the "loud" feature, doesn't help the base though, I'm finding the base really low too compared to stock unit
