The problem is on display of my receiver. When I start the car, the display reads,"loading." I know that is normal. But then, it will display, "antenna" and stay there. My RPT button will not allow me to view any title or artist.
Here's the bizarre part. I have reception just fine. All of my channels work. All of my presets work. If my receiver is telling me that there is an antenna problem, why am I getting reception? Has anyone had this happen before? Any ideas on what it could be?
I contacted XM and had my radio "refreshed" but that didn't help. I sent them an email, on their troubleshooting page, and their reply was determined as an equipment problem. Not much help there, but they advised taking it back to the installer. I would like to do that as a last resort.

 

Older XM systems use two different signals, one for actual satalite signals and one for repeaters. If something happens to one side of the antenna the other side will still pick up signals, but the reciever will notice the problem. It's been a while since I messed with XM but if I remember right this only works one way - You can lose the satelite signal and go off of repeaters but you can't lose the repeaters and go off of the satelite signals....

I may be wrong though!

Has it always done this? If it has done this since the install, I would take it back to the installer.

If it started hapening later, what changed?

Based on your profile, you really seem to know your electronics. I appreciate your reply, it kinda made sense, but it still left me scratching my head. [confused] ( I guess it wasn't "plain" English enough for me to understand?)
And <font color=red>dave,</font color=red> yes. I was able to view the artist/title before. This problem just suddenly happened. Since I can receive all channels, it's not a repair that needs to be done tomorrow. I was just crossing my fingers, hoping someone else here had experienced this same type of problem, and knew of a "quick-fix" to help me along. [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]
