iPhone 3GS doesn't charge on ipod kit, just plays music

Thumbs down iPhone 3GS doesn't charge on ipod kit, just plays music
I just bought a iPhone 3GS and currently have the ipod kit in my G. With my old 2G iphone, everything worked fine. The 3GS DOESN'T charge now when plugged in, it just plays music. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Truthfully, if I have to take one or the other, I'll take playing music over charging any day, but still. This sucks.

scosche or however you spell it, charging adapter from walmart. $30-40 bucks
