i just got my sub installed with a factory radio and on the way home it just stopped working when i opened the trunk i saw the amp light was still on and check the fuse on the amp it was good check all the connections they were nice and tight buy when i look at the sub i noticed that it had a tear along the outside about 1/2 long is this enough to not make the sub work at all???? i figured it would hit but just sound like crap

any suggestions???

The tear won't stop it from moving so that's not the problem. Like you said it would still work, but sound like crap.p is still turning on then either it's going into protection mode and shutting the outputs down or there's a problem with the inputs. I would bring it back to the place that did the install and let them fix it.

 

can you still push the cone in? if you can't then you're blown the sub and frozen the voicecoil.

 

Mine are doing the same thing. How do I know if they are going into protection mode?

 

what amp do you have?
most amps have a small light and somewhere close to the light it says protections. most likely it will be a red light that's on

 

it is a koiiler amp and i do not see any protection light

 

going to the place that installed it tommorow i have feeling the amp is shot
