Does anyone know if the stock G35 navigation system will play DVD-R or DVD+R direct copies of the infiniti map discs? Thanks for the support.

 

If I recall correctly, it's dual-layer, which DVD-R/+R are not. I tried once and no, it didn't work.

my dvd burner does dual layer...just have to see about buying blank dual layer discs and burning them. Never done nor heard of anyone burning dual layer discs yet, just know my burner has it in the specs.

 

Does it actualy say DVD9 in the specs ?

My DVD burner is made my Acer/Benq model #822 i think. The manufacter site is down right now, but i believe it is www.benq.com and I know they only make 3 dvd burner models and mine is the top model. I think its 400A then 800A, then 822A (mine). Not sure if DVD9 but i know it says it will burn "dual layer 9.4gb".

i have a dual layer burner too. also i bought the media..dang 15 bucks a disc. too expensive for me to much around right now. btw, it's 8.4 gig not 9.4.

Yes my burner is DVD9 compatible. Here's a link http://www.benq.com/storage/dvdrw_index.html Its a great burner too, with an 8mb buffer you can't go wrong especially at the $78 or so they sell for. Haven't made a coaster yet Never tried any DVD9 or dual layer though, but might have to play around with it when I get time, because I have 4-5 infiniti map discs to "back up" if possible.

check out the new NEC drives... on newegg.com for like $85 or cheaper. They do dual layered dvd's, and it's a cheap *** drive too. I have an older NEC DVD+R/RW drive, and it works very well.

I've heard that discs were expensive, but 15 bucks? I thought I heard $10.. will probably be $5 within the next couple of months, so no rush to buy a whole bunch I'm sure.
