Copy Music From Hard Drive?
OK, 07 Sedan was just declared totalled by Insurance Co and all I could think was, "How am I gonna get all my music off that HD?" I probly have some of the CDs but many have died or walked away and it is really gonna suck to start all over again. Anybody know a way? Even if it involves pulling the drive, I might be able to getthe body shop to let me pull it....

If it's really totaled, the body shop workers may take a 6-pack of encouragement to let you remove the whole head unit... leave the face if you need it to look like it's still there.
Or drop a cheap-*** 3rd party head unit (bonus points for an 8-track) in the empty spot, don't even bother hooking it up or making it look pretty. Claim it was swapped out before the accident.

I highly doubt that there is a USB cord on the back of the headunit
Most Harddrives, OEM and aftermarket, read from a CD and store the data internally
If you can take the harddrive out of the car and install that harddrive in your new car youd be golden.
Has to be the same car/make/model and maybe year
example: I highly doubt you can take a harddrive from a Cadillac and put it in a G

You could always swap hard drives into the new G. If you're not installing it into a G, it's unlikely that Infiniti created a new filesystem to store the ripped music. It should be readable (unlikely in windows) on a computer. Your best bet is to boot into linux (try a free, "Live CD" version of Ubuntu) and connect the drive via a USB hard drive adapter (about $20 online). The biggest problem I foresee, is if Infiniti uses a very non-standard format for the music, but again, I can't see them creating a new format from scratch when there's so many different ones available.
If this seems waaaaay over your head, I'd be willing to try and get the music off if you were to send the hard drive from the unit my way.

Here's a useful link about the G37 music system.

After reading through those, I'd have to say it's above my capabilities, but if you pull the hard drive and unlock it, like the guy from Lithuania did, you can access the different partitions, and probably the ripped music.
Transferring the music to another G would be very complicated, either unlocking both drives, transferring, relocking... etc.
Swapping hard drives may still be the best option, if the drives aren't locked to a particular head unit.
