iPod Factory Integration Coupe/Sedan???
I have a 2004 G35 Coupe. I'm thinking of purchasing the iPod Factory Integration Coupe/Sedan from G35parts.com. Is this the best way to add iPod capabilites to my G35? How much is a reasonable rate that an audio shop should charge me to install this? Also, is this a pretty reliable set-up?
Thanks

It depends what you consider best.
If you're planning to EVER upgrade your stereo, don't waste the money on factory iPod integration. Aftermarket units integrate iPod much, much better, allowing for album art, steering wheel controls, playlist support, as well as all the usual aftermarket goodness of touchscreen, nav, etc...
Swapping out to an aftermarket head unit will cost a little more, but it's by far the best way to integrate iPod.
If you're strapped for cash, pick up a cheap iPod FM transmitter and deal with the frustration for a couple months while you save up for aftermarket DD conversion. There's even a DIY for the 2004's. It's much easier than you think, there's probably somewhere on the board that'll help you, and the money saved by not paying an installer will about pay for the DD conversion kit.

I picked mine up from Riverside Infiniti off of eBay:

That's for the real JDM kit. There's a cheaper Metra-branded kit available, but all reviews say to spend the extra dollars and get the real, JDM part instead.

I put the USA spec unit into my car. It is a huge sound upgrade for my system and allows me to live with the factory HU for a bit longer while I save up for a proper HU. I'm still not sure if I'm going for the DD In Dash Nav/DVD or just a single din unit. If you know how to use tools I would say have a bit of fun and try to install the USA spec one. I went with that route because that seemed a bit easier than doing the Nissan one, but only because I didn't want to take the seats out of my car.

i did got the OEM kit, i just installed it in about 5 min. well temp install. I just pulled the cover off my sedan, since i had pictures to tell me where it was and i just yanked the cable out hooked it up and grounded it to the trunk latch to make sure everything works. Its playing right now. i'll spend more time to wire everything up into my center console another day.
