Arrow Bose Amp with aftermarket HU

When installing an aftermarket Double-din, does this have an affect on the bose amp with the speakers?

Yes. You have to connect the aftermarket HU to the Bose amp to get any sound, unless you're installing an aftermarket amp.

I understand that. As far as sound quality of the speakers and amp, will the bose amp and speakers work to the same extent as with the factory HU or will it be altered in some way? Thanks

If my new Double-Din HU has a built in amp do I use the stock bose amp or use the double-din amp for the speakers?

you're better off to replace the Bose amp than the HU for an improvement in sound, but replacing the HU will still give you more flexibility to make the sound better.

You still need to use the Bose amp with your HU unless you want to run speaker level wire from the HU to the Bose amp output to send the signal to your speakers. You could also run speaker wires from the back of the HU to each individual speaker.

Most people use the RCA output and a harness adapter to send the signal to the Bose amp.

^^^ I do NOT recommend that unless you have a preout voltage of 4 or higher.

Im a noob when it comes to audio stuff...Im looking at an eclipse head unit that has 4 voltage pre-outs. Im confused as what to do if the eclipse HU has a 22rms watt amp built in and how i install that with my bose amp that I have already in my car. Does anyone have a DIY for '06 gcoupe with a bose system?

Honestly even with the new headunit and the factory bose amp, the sound quality still sucks IMHO. You would be better off changing the factory amp before changing the headunit.

^^^ yeah...I just had installed an aftermarket no name double din unit from a groupbuy and the sound is horrible. I was told the BOSE amp doesnt work well with other brands and to run the unit without the amp connected. Either way this double din unit kinda sucks and I regret buying it

So.... I ended up purchasing a Kenwood DNX9140 and I am excited about getting this installed hopefully this weekend! Im going to see how better the sound is with the BOSE amp...if it still sucks, then I will end up changing the amp and getting a 12" or 15" sub in the trunk.

Get the Metra 70-7551 wire harness with RCA pigtails. Plug them into the female RCA jacks on your new HU, connect the wires of the white clips to the harness on the new HU, and then plug it into the stock harness. The connection is made.
