Carputer/Touchscreen finally installed PICS

It took awhile but I finally got everything in and working. It took quite a bit of fab on the cubby to get everything the way i wanted it but its done and everything is custom. The frame is a brushed aluminum to match the center console, the screen is a 7" touch, the pc is housed in a case that looks like an amp, running xp 1.6ghz dual core intel atom mb, 2 gb ram, 160gb hd, wifi, gps. The pictures don't really do it justice, all cabling tucked away neatly. don't have any pics of the screen down in the cubby but it does go in all the way and the door closes completely hiding the screen. The only thing that would make it better is if i could put in pneumatics to automatically move the screen in and out of the cubby but i am perfectly fine with sliding the screen in and out myself. People said it was too much work to do in the 06's because of how the cubby had been relocated and was now a major part of the center console. the console comes apart very easily and everything will fit right in, including the pac adapter, the hardest part is designing the sliding system and mounting it to the cubby. If anyone is attempting to do this or wants some more information on anything i did i will be glad to help.

took the pics at night so some of them are kind of dark, if anyone is interested in any other pics, let me know and i'll see what i can do.

sorry for the rant but i'm super pumped its finally done, been busy with work and out of town, this was like 3 months in the making.

Blankline, did you buy the monitor with the brushed aluminum edge intact or did you end up retrofitting it?

try to get everyones questions in one shot:

all together, it cost me about 360 to build the pc, 60 for the pac adapter, 300 for the screen, 15 for an extra upper cubby, 30 for the gps antenna(sits next to the rear speaker on the deck) and some misc wiring so all in all about 800 or a little more for the stuff, then i gave my buddy that helped me some cash for his time so total just under 1,000.

located in orlando and yeah myself and a buddy of mine i work with did everything(he did the fab work on the sliding mechanism on the cubby, pretty ingenius, and the wiring...powering the pc from an existing 12v line in the trunk instead of hitting the battery in the front)

i bought the screen without the bezel on it, took it to a local frame shop and picked out one to match the interior, they did the measurements and ordered it, ended up being free cause they ordered the wrong one..haha...then i mounted the screen in the frame.

i'll try to get some more pics...may be till the weekend...headed to boston on wed for business.

thanks for all the compliments

looks great, but i think you should put a double din kit in and swap the monitor out of the cubby.
