Replacing Radio is a problem
Guys,
If anyone has or is going to replace their head unit it is going to be a problem, because the wizards at Nissan made the AC and the Radio circuit board one piece. It can be done, but its a pain. I just got my headunit changed for a Pioneer 7480 DVD player with a 7"screen. I will post pics later.
Thanks.

Re: Replacing Radio is a problem
You say the wizards at Nissan sarcastically. Has it ever occured to you that Nissan has to try to find ways to make money on a vehicle with the same features as ones costing thousands more. Not to mention packaging constraints. Not being from the audio department(I work in engineering at Nissan Technical Center North America), I can still probably say that it was more cost effective to do it that way. This car (especially in sedan form) is probably primarily marketed to late 30s to 40 somthings that normally have no desire to replace their radio. (Sorry if I come off like a jerk) Just a thought to keep in mind.

for the life of me i cant figure out why anybody would want
to change the head unit... the head unit as a receiver is as
good as anything aftermarket... i dont understand anybody
wanting to change the look of the dash either... not to mention eventually somebody will figure out how to make
the dvd nav work other dvd's as well... i have had nothing but compliments on my stereo system which has everything replaced in it but the head and the two door tweets...

Re: Replacing Radio is a problem
I'm happy with the G-sedan's Bose system. A little slow loading and cueing but all I need. What I am interested in though is a few more 'easy' ponies (maybe 15-20). All I've done so far is synthetics and K&N. Anyone heard of any chips on the market yet? Gsedanman

gsedanman;
Which K&N did you fit (Part # ?)
BTW, I'm quite happy with the BOSE as well. It's MUCH better than what BOSE sometimes fits into cars, and pretty close to what the Levinson system sounds like in the Lexus parked. Once you're on the road, since the G35 is not as serene as the Lexus, who can tell?
Pearl White/Graphite, loaded except Aero & Navigation

Did you get a clean looking install? How did you deal with the extreme integration of the stock head unit? PLEASE POST THE PICS!!!

Re: Replacing Radio is a problem
that depends on what you buy aftermarket. you could buy $900 worth of crap and get really loud booming crap. in which case, the stock stereo would actually sound better, although not as loud. or you could get $900 worth of quality equipment and get great sound that the premium sound system doesn't even come close to.

BOZAK...so what exactly did you put in your car, and could it be eaily integrated with the existing unit...thanks. I think someone asked this, but do you know if the Nav unit can somehow be modified to play DVDs? Thanks again.
