HELP! Battery Drain??
HELP! Battery Drain??
one night i come back to my car at am pm and out of nowhere i get a no start. :[ id try to start but all i got was clicking so i call my friend and he has to jump me so i can get home. he said my battery was completely drained. when i do get home i do some research it could be because the amp stays on even though the radio and car is off.. so for now ive pulled out the radio fuse and im planning on chargeing the battery, but no radio??
AND THE CLIMATE CONTROL IS STUCK ON 90!
does anyone have any ideas on what to do?? im under warranty but id hate to take my g to the dealer..

factory amp.. all of my mods are non electrical.. its a o4 sedan with a fujita intake blitz nurspec exhaust and bc racing coilovers.. should i just get a new battery and go from there?
naw that won't help the problem.
do you have a multi meter?
If you do. put your fuse for the radio back in. With the car off put your multi meter on the battery and watch as the voltage goes down. if it stays steady there is no drain and likely you just left an interior light or something on.
if it does go down start pulling fuses - starting with the radio and amp fuses. This is a long process of elimination but it shows you where your drain is.

the car is going to have to have a charge in order to do the tests. charge it run it for a good half hour.

well i tried charging the battery but it didnt hold a charge. so i went to autozone and picked up an optima red top and reinstalled the radio fuse. my g starts and runs fine. maybe it was just time for a new battery? .. well see haha
If it is an '04 with original battery its time for a new battery anyway. If you continue to have problems you can check the current draw on the battery by using an amp meter. These cars draw quite a bit of current in "stand by" mode and any extra current draw can cause dead batteries.
