you'll want to 0 gauge to be safe. you'll be fine with 2 gauge if you can find it.

I would not say a cap is useless but I would say they are useless for what most purchase them for. Keep in mind that you may well end up against the wall at the alternator with many aftermarket amps.

In the case of my 08 I have a 110 amp alternator. Max draw with stock equipment seems to be about 41 amps. That gives me about 70 amps to play with (although there is often a 30% under rating on alternators) to be safe.

A class d amp often used for subs can be 90% effecient while other classes are less so.

Figure up you total draw and then you may need to think about another alternator and possibly upgrading that wiring as well.

As far as size of wire go to the net and do a search on ampacity for your system and then I would go at least one above what you need. Keep in mind that there is a difference between installations considerations as ampacity also has a chassis value.

well what you'll do is since you're running 2 amps, you'll have a distribution block. from the disty block you'll split the 0 gauge to 2 or 4 gauge (if you can get 2 gauge you can split to 4 for sure) - but what I did was take 0 gauge to 4 gauge to each of my amps (800w mono amp, 4 by 75w amp). since my my disty had a positive and a ground side I just sent the ground wires back to that and then grounded with 0 gauge to a good spot that I sanded to bare metal. you'll likely do something similar. It's a bit of work to do cleanly but the end result is worth it.
I can take some pictures of my amp setup tomorrow so that you can see that it's simple to hide the wires and have a truely clean install.

oh and speaker wire, if you want to run new wire into doors I'd suggest 14/16 gauge 14 is a PAIN to get to go in the doors nicely though. Someone on here posted up just the other day. wish I had thought of drilling out the molex plug :S

Hmm, maybe if I look at the pictures I'll know what you are talking about! Okay great, I have a new pack of Rockford Fosgate 16 Gauge speaker wire which I can use then.. But isn't 0 gauge hard to find? :S

Just received the Kicker PKD1, HOLY **** ITS HEAVY and THICK.. Looks very high quality stuff. Would I need an enclosure for the two IDMAX or just mount to surface and let it breath free air?
