Which sub will YOU go for?

Okay, after all the stress and reviewing I did on multiple searches, I came to a conclusion of adding a JL 12w7 in my 04' Coupe.. And then I fell on some of Bing's (16psibrick) masterpieces on our cars. Too bad he lives in Cali and I'm all the way in D.C.. I saw that he had aim and added him too see what his taste was for the W7. He referred me to the IDMAX D2.. Now, I'm kind of confused on what to get for my G. My question to everyone here is, what would you guys choose out of the two options and why?

One more thing, does anyone know where I can get similar quality work done in my G around Northern Virginia or Maryland? Please chime in for advice or bash at me for choosing a 12 and especially a W7 for our lil trunk.. lol

For those who have ONE IDMAX 10" D2, how much bass do you get?
Thanks guys

My W6 was as useless as t*ts on a nun, "overexcusion" problems. meanwhile it's rated for 600w rms. I have a 800w amp on it with the gains less than half. I'm going to be ordering a IDMAX10 as soon as I can.

What a single W7 overkill???

I had an IDmax but just didnt like it, to much SQ for me

I lean 60/40 spl/sq but the max was alot of SQ

not to say it wasnt a great sub, but its more of a sub id use in a home theater

all the W7s ive heard sounded nice but the price tag is a bit high

IDMAX all the way... I have 1 10" powered with about 700 watts and it sounds great. I am a bass head and love bass so 2 would be nice, but I stuck with a single 10. Puttin in a 12" was not in my goal for the little trunk as I would have lost too much trunk space. Getting 3 IDMAX10's would be way more than you need plus the price will creep up fast as you will need mimimum 1500 watts for the trio. Bing did a great job on my setup.

Hey BMPNRIDE, yeah I saw the installation that Bing did. He has amazing results. But I would really like three 10's possibly IDMAX. I'm getting them $250 for each sub shipped to my door. So $750 for all three.. I'm looking for that bass that will hit you in the chest, I don't care about being heard down the street or anything.. Let me know what ya think!

With my single 10, the bass is pretty good inside the car. Most people think I have 12's in the trunk. I am able to get pretty good response from the lower frequencies, that most 10's cannot get. I never heard my car from a distance so I do not know how much the bass carry is, but you will for sure feel the 3 10's. I get crazy vibrations from the single so make sure you dynamat your entire trunk, rear decklid and door panels. The headliner around the sunroof will do some crazy vibrations as well. What box will you be using? PM me the info for where you are getting the IDMAX for that price. Thats almost half off.

Okay, so being the picky one...I decided to go for two 10" IDMAX subs and I think this will be good beginning for me.. I can always add another if needed but now that I got that cleared out. Which sub should I power those babies up with? JL 1000/1? Alpine PDX 1000.1? Orion HCCA-D5000? Hifonics XXV-COLOSSUS? Hifonics BXi 2610D? Any suggestions!? And bmpnride, thanks for your input. Every opinion counts

Please dont get any of the new Hifonics stuff. Its all junk. I have alot of the old school Hifonics amps like Zeus, Colossus, Boltar, Isis. That was when it was good and trust me those amps pushed out some serious power. I have an old Soundstream DaVinci from my old setup and that was clean power. A JL 1000/1 might be good but I know others have some input on some better power for your buck amps. Look into Zapco if you have a chance, not just cuz im running them.

^ Old school Hifonics? You still have them laying around? Always thought they were good even till today but old is gold. The only thing stopping me from buying the JL 1000/1 is that if I wanted to feed more RMS to the subs, will I be able to (considering each IDMAX is up to 1000 RMS)? When it comes to amps, I totally have no idea how they work.

If you really want serious bass, forget the overpriced w7. Go for the DD subs. I promise you it will hit harder than a w7 for less money.
