Thats cool, may I ask were you got the dynamat from and how much? Its so expensive, I've been looking at other sound deadners but i'm thinking i'll just have to spend more and get the Dynomat.

I have seen the dynamat 36 sq ft set for like 200-250. Way too much IMO. I just looked on ebay and you can get it for like 120 w/shipping. Might be worth looking into.

I just ordered the Dynamat Xtreme trunk kit (20 sq. feet) off of ebay for 80 bucks (includes shipping). When the weather gets nice I'll put it in. Is it difficult to do or should I have a audio shop do it for me?

it isn't difficult. Just takes time and a little elbow grease. Save yourself a few bucks and DIY.

I also bought the B-Quiet Extreme w/ roller from a guy on ebay. 100 sq. foot of Dynamat is quite a lot! So far I've done under the back seats and the doors and I already can tell a difference. It was especially noticeable when I drove my Mom's G coupe - it was very obvious how much more road noise I was hearng from her car. Still need to do the rear panels and trunk.

Yeah i just finished rear seat, rear sides, passenger door (installing infinity kappa perfect 6.1's!!)

So far a pretty big difference. I have a feeling that after I do the trunk and under the drivers/passenger seats, it'll be VERY nice.

And I agree, easy as hell to install. I didn't even need a blowdryer for the b-quiet stuff, as long as it's somewhat hot outside.

The wooden roller kinda sucks cause the round part comes out of the handle if you apply anything more than minimal pressure, but it does it's job, and it def better than just trying to press it with your fingers/palm.

Overall, for ~$125 shipped, I'm happy.

It definately will add ~40 lbs or so to your car's weight, so if you're one of those weight saving fanatics, stay away.

LOL, you definitely got the same kit I did.

Tip: If you accidentally stick it somewhere that you don't want it, DW-40 will dissolve the tar/glue instantly and it will wipe right off. A friend was helping me dynamat the doors and over-shot the cover's boundary, leaving some dynamat exposed. DW-40 cleaned it right up.

Re: Dynomat - great improvement

I just got some fatmat, and I am noticing a tar smell. It has been there for 2, almost 3 days. Is that going to go away? I was thinking about taping the seams with duct tape or something of the sort to eliminate some of the odor. Any suggestions?

With the b-quiet stuff, I noticed that smell as well, but it went away within an hour, max.

Are you heating the fatmat up? Maybe if you overheat it, some burning may occur or something? just suggesting stuff.

No, I did not heat it up. I have not put my seats back over it, but it still shouldn't smell that bad. It is when I get into my car after sitting for a while with the windows closed. I was thinking about using some duct tape or something of the sort to tape over the seams of the fatmat in the cabin area. Any other suggestions?

I just called fatmat. They said that odor is normal, and should go away in about 1-1.5 weeks. Sounds good to me. I also did a little research, and if it doesn't go away, I will buy some aluminum foil tape which is often used to seal out odors, and it should work nicely with the aluminum coat on the fatmat. High temp, etc.
