Viper 5901

Hey guys

First i must say i am impressed with all the features of this alarm system. I'm planning on buying one but i'd like to ask you guys about your experience with it.

Is the signal good enough to detect and page you when your car is parked in a 4 story parking garage (lets say at school) and you are in a building about a 1/4 mile away with lots of other buildings/obstacles in the way. My school is notorious for hit and run drivers (my girlfriend got her bumper smashed once, replaced it, then it got smashed again like the next week LOL.)

Perhaps it is a good investment if the pager has the signal strength to detect that sort of thing...

Also, can anybody recommend good installation shops around $200 for a full install on a 2003 A/T. I live in Koreatown, near Downtown los angeles. Would prefer to find a shop in San gabriel valley or West LA perhaps near cerritos/long beach.

Also looking to get DD installed, maybe i can get them installed together for a possible discount or something., but where is a good recommended shop that could do both?

Thanks in advance guys!

I had a Viper 791VX and it worked well

The range is not as great as they advertise.

You might get a few blocks of range but thats about it

I tried to start my car in a Walmart and it didnt work.

I tried all over the store and nothing.

It works right by the door.

The sensor was placed almost in the center of the windsheild and just below the window tint.

It works great when youre in your house and places like that

The alarm portion was great, never a false alarm even though rain.

I work at a mobile electronics store that deals with Viper and Clifford and I can tell you that it is highly unlikely you would get a page from that far away.

However, think about this. If someone were to hit your car, do you really think you would be able to get out of class, run a 1/4 mile and go to the 4th floor quick enough to catch them? The person that hit your car would probably be gone by then.

thanks sfgr415,
I know they would be gone by then, it just sucks that they do it. Makes me want to get a hummer h1 or a huge truck and drive it to school not giving a **** about parking or whose car i hit lol.
