Anyone ever tried painting the metra buttons?

I can live with the metra kit, but it would be alot better if the buttons were black. Has anyone tried just painting them with duplicolor fabric and vinyl paint?

This stuff is so easy, a half blind, crippled, infant monkey with adhd could use it. It's really more like ink in a can.
The only thing is the white symbols. Are they on the surface or indented into the button? If it's engraved into it, then it's not to big of a deal. But if it's flush with the surface then you won't be able to see what the buttons are for
I'm just wondering because when I do my CarPC, I'm going to have to hack up a kit, and I'm not going to risk an overpriced JDM part.

You should just get the oem jdm double din kit wayyyy 100x better. If your paint those rubber buttons the paint will just chip, flake off. Cause the paint will not be flexible once dried or will it adhere to the rubber. One of my friend acutally toke his time and used a good black permanent marker and left the printed on white. It acutally looks good hasnt faded yet.

No. I will not spend over twice the $ just for the JDM kit. It shouldn't be that much, so I will not buy it. I'm not really worried about the paint chipping or flaking off, if you've ever used the exact 'paint' that I'm talking about you would know why.
Also extra 'y's and “100x” doesn't help convince me, neither does spelling boy with an i.
