Where and how to mount basslink?

So my basslink is scheduled to deliver tomorrow. I read a bit on here about people just cramming it into the corner of the trunk and hoping it stays.

I'm looking for a more solid solution. I don't want it rolling around and I want as much solid contact with the inside body as possible and not isolated sitting on carpet.

any ideas that would not involve cutting the trunk floor carpet or screwing into it so the carpet can still be removed?

In my other car it is mounted vertically. Some mount them horizontally. Basically you want to make it portable at first so you can figure out exactly where to put it and in what orientation.

Mount it on a nylon breadboard and then velcro it in place.
