Bose 6x9's - keep em or dump em...

I've read where alot of you out there have disconnected the 6x9's in the Coupe when you added a sub in the trunk. I am about to add a 12" sub (w/ 300 watt amp) and want to understand what the benefit of disconnecting the 6x9's is.

Thanks in advance!

I disconnected and removed mine completely because i'm running a 5-channel amp to my front doors, rear panels, and to the sub in the trunk so therefore I have nothing powering my 6x9's, it kinda vents some of the sub into the cabin easier and also it keeps the sound imaging up front instead of behind you...so i say dump'm

Nismoboy is right, the vent will help you more for sound quality than keeping them connected.

Do you hear me?

Hey,
I am thinking of installing a similar stereo set up as you have. One question, where do you have your 5 channel amp mounted? And what kind of enclosure do you have for your sub? Hows the sound? Thanks

I have my amp mounted to my rear fold-down's, my installer placed a piece of wood in-between the rear back seat cushion and the carpet you see inside the truck and mounted it on there to hold the amp in place. This was the only place it would fit considering my amp's about 19" long. Also, I have a sealed enclosure for my 12" sub with about 1 cu.ft. of air space and with everything I have and the way its tuned so far, it sounds amazing...very nice and clear and loud at the same time, neither the highs or lows overpower each other, its a good blend in my opinion. Eventually I'm gonna have some kick panels made for my speakers and it'll sound a hundred times better than it does now.
