XM Drop Out Problems

I continue to have intermittant times when my OE XM receiver drops reception, and will not start unless I stop and turn off the ignition. I have read of others with the same problem, and even a long post recounting the steps the poster went through with Clarion to get a fix (no solution when last I heard though), but cannot seem to get a search that finds the thread here or on the other G35 boards. My dealer denies any knowledge of such complaints, and I have had it with the drop outs when I really am interested in a program. I want to copy some of the posts on this problem and shove them at my service writer.

Any help here?

I had the problems too. My dealer said they've seen several of these cases. And he considers the dealership to have a small service department too...

I think your dealer is avoiding the issue. Is there another dealer near you?

Re: XM Drop Out Problems

(supposedly) there is a new version of the tuner available that does not have that drop out issue. My friend had the problem in his car and got a new receiver, ordered directly from clarion, and has not had a dropout since.

You might want to see if the dealership could order you a replacement tuner directly from clarion.

I have the new tuner now, and it is going strong so far. It does say "remanufactured" on it. I guess they're taking the old tuners and updating the firmware in there. I wish they'd give us the scrolling text...

How did you get the new tuner? I'm having problems with mine locking and I have to turn the car off/on to get it working again.

Re: XM Drop Out Problems

I mentioned the same problem to my dealer (Passport in VA) and they said there are problems with the XM receiver. They called me Friday with a new unit that they will install next week.
