heating amp
heating amp
i just recently installed a 12" Rockford T1 with a Rockford Power 500.2. now its in a normal single box becuase my car is a lease and i didnt want to customize it. the amp is gettin extremely hot and its not from the sub, something is causing it but im not sure. also the sub barely moves, i have it connected to a line converter but its not moving as it should. any thoughts? thanks
Re: heating amp
the amp is velcroed to the carpet. another thing that is going on is the sub will bump when theres no music, like say i hit the break, signal, turn my lights on, it will hit. im clueless on this. i mean everything is brand new so i doubt itd be a bad system.
Re: heating amp
Sounds like you wired the switched power terminal to a wire from the tail light assembly. Speculating: The "sound" you are hearing from the sub is probably vibration from your other speakers. Sub isn't on. The amp is getting hot because you are turning it on and off and on and off and on and off everytime you hit the break, use the turn signal or have your lights on. Sub hits intermitently with power provided to the switched terminal when you use the turn signal or breaks etc.
Did your G come with the bose system? Splice the switched power from there. Usually the switched power is a light blue wire but I would check the wiring diagram first.

i believe you splice into the front. thats what i did, one of my buddies did the same and said if u run it to the rear, its losing more of a signal. i have the Rockford loc and it works fine and it has the gains, mine are half way up, not sure if i bring it all up what will happen. im no pro so wait for someone else to answer your question and if im wrong, then ill change my setup

Looks like he's got it 'wired' to the front, so lets hope that its only the sound signal and not the power connections....

Re: heating amp
i found the problem, the loc was sitting right next to the bose amp so i moved it over to the jack on the other side and the hitting with no music stopped. also i rechecked all my wiring and found out that my ground was barely on. i must have yanked it when i put the carpet back in.
Re: heating amp
My friend is an installer and refuses to install Rockford because the have an amazing habit of repeatedly blowing up, Get a new amp like Pheonix Gold or even Sony anything is better than Rockford. Sorry
