AVN 726e & JDM Double Din - Fitment

I had my stereo installed yesterday. My headunit is an Eclipse AVN 726e and my dash kit is the JDM Double Din. Upon picking up the car, the shop told me that the kit's opening was larger than the Metra (cheeper dash kit) and it consequently had more space around it. Needless to say, I don't like the way it looks...

Appologies for not having pics yet (again...got the car back last night). I have to say...I went with the top-shelf stereo and the top-shelf dash kit and they don't fit very well....what gives. Anyone else use this combonation and how did you resolve it. For the money spent, it should look PERFECT.

I'm probably going to tinker with it myself that way I get it the way I want. Words of wisdom...???

Possibly add a larger trim to cover the negative space? Go to home depot and ask a knowledgeable person to over come that problem. I'm going to get my AVIC-D1 and JDM installed this week sometime as well, I hope I don't encounter the same problem!

Would love to know how it turns out. I plan to do the AVIC-Z110BT with the JDM kit.

I'll try to get some width by height opening measurements off of the JDM kit for you.
