PXAMG (iSimple) install location in a 2005 G35x

Hey,

I finally got my iSimple gateway working in my G35x by disconnecting the satellite cable even though they say it works on their website.

The only problem I have right now is where do I install the box? I tried under the stereo unit but it doesn't seem like there is room. I don't see any other place to fit it in. Where did you install yours?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Ended up pulling the carpet and stuffing it to the left of the passenger area so that I can pull it out in case a firmware update came out. Then ran the cable to the center console and through a hole in the cigarette lighter box.

Did you do the necessary updates to the firmware? IIRC, that will allow you to keep SAT functionality.

I somehow have mine mounted under the HU. I remember it was a pain.

How is your volume level with the iPod? I am still not satisfied with the amplification / gain level.

Yeah I updated to the latest firmware but SAT still didn't work. It would pause every 5 seconds.

The volume level is about 5 below what I'd usually have the Stereo at. I usually have the stereo at 23-25 now vs 18-20.

I think the convenience of being able to drop music on my iPhone on the go outweighs the volume levels.

sorry to revive dead post but I installed mine today into my 05 g35x and it wont work. I have CD, RADIO, SSV, and DISP buttons on my radio. Everytime I hit the radio button it won't cycle to "SAT" mode? How did you get yours to work?

If the device simulates a CD changer, try tapping the CD button. Ones that simulate sat radios work via the radio button.

That's a little odd. If you disconnect it, does it go to CD like normal?

Ya it will go into cd mode when I press the load button but not when I press the cd button. The guy I brought it from had the same buttons as me and said that he acceded it through say mode when cycling the radio button

If the sat cable is connected to anything, you disconnect it at the satellite adapter in the trunk. If there isn't a satellite adapter, there's nothing to disconnect.
