Big Question- 2 Subs or 1??

For christmas my parents are looking for some subs to get me. I have an 05 sedan and I know for sure im getting the pioneer AvH 5100 head unit. My dad was looking on Amazon and saw this amazing deal...
Amazon Amazon
.

So basically its two Kenwood Kfc 12"s (400RMS, 1200 Peak Watt) vs. 1 Alpine Type R 12" (500 Rms, 1500 Peak Watt) with the same amp.

Edit: Can the 1800 watt amp handle the two subs, and is the kenwood amp compatible with the Pioneer AVH 5100 head unit... help would be great thanks

The amp will work with the HU just fine, just about any amp will work with just about any hu, even a stock HU can work with amps with the correct adapter. Personally though, I'd buy higher quality stuff. The amp/sub aren't really very high quality stuff and 2 12's is going to take up a ton of space in your car.

I had a single JL audio 10w6v2 10" sub and a 500/1 amp in my coupe and it was louder than 2 10" fosgates and a 1000w fosgate amp, was louder than the 2 12's in my old concorde, and louder than the 2 10's in my neon. I'd go with a single high quality amp and sub to maximize your bass for the size it takes up. Hope this helped.

Generally speaking, the following will be true.
(Assuming speakers are identical)

A 12" Sub powered by 100Watts produced 90dB SPL (Sound Pressure Level)

Double the amplifier power, and the SPL increases by 3dB.

A 12" Sub powered by 200Watts produces 93dB SPL

Now, if you have (2) 12" Subs powered by 100Watts each, the SPL will also increase by 3dB.

So generally: (1) 12" Sub at 200Watts is equivalent to (2) 12" Subs at 100Watts each.
