Navi/DVD

I need some opinnions....
Which navigation unit is best in the $1,000 price tag?
I was thinking to go with the JVC unit just because it has a detachable unit, but again I have heard the Pioneer navigation is much better....But which Pioneer fits better in my 2005 G coupe?
The full 7" screen or the 5.8" the guy at the audio place told me that the 5.8" looks better and cleaner because it fits nicely, and the 7" sticks out a bit...
Ideas?

With a JDM kit, the Pioneer will require you get a separate trim ring, but fits fine, I have installed both a Pioneer AVIC F90BT (06 Sedan) and a Pioneer AVIC U310BT (05 Coupe).

If navigation is your primary concern, the Kenwood 9140 or 8120 series is probably the best way to go, they're solid units and the 9140 has Garmin navigation. The Pioneer Z110BT ($1k @ amazon.com last I checked) also has good navigation, but it's Pioneer's own software. The Pioneer's iPod control is the best I've seen in any unit out there, and I greatly prefer the way that the Pioneer units accept "natural" voice commands - "Play artist xxxxx", in contrast to the Kenwoods voice commands, which basically just emulate pushing the screen "Line 1, Line 2". Check youtube for user-demos of both units to see which you'd prefer to use.

If you drill your own screw holes, you can have the unit sit flush, stick or, or even sit in just a bit if you want.

If you're spending $1000 for the headunit alone, I don't think JVC has a unit that can compete with Pioneer and Kenwood's offerings at that price. If your entire upgrade budget (DD kit, steering wheel remote adapter, antenna adapter and wiring harness) is $1k, then the JVC might have better features vs. the $600 Pioneer/Kenwood range.

Which JVC unit in particular were you looking at?

Thanks for great review!

I have been looking at the Pioneer z110bt and the Pioneer x910bt...
In the JVC side I have been looking at the KWNT1 and the Nx7000....

The Pioneer attracts me just because it has the MSN feature ready (Except the z110bt) and the 110bt also its $100.00 extra for that part, so i am more inclined towards the x910bt and all in one package....

The JVC I like because of the detachable face....Dont know how often they steal those units, so thats the only reason why I'm considering detachable....

I searched the Kenwoods and they are above the 1k range....

I already have the JDM dash kit, i just need the head unit now....

Just a FYI, amazon currently has the Z110BT for 990$ from cartoys (authorized internet pioneer retailer) which means you can do the $200 mail-in-rebate.

So under $800 for the Z110... If I wasn't going to the middle east for a year, I'd be picking one up now.

Also, if you're in fear of having the unit stolen, you can inset the new headunit a little bit and if you dremel out the old faceplate, you can create a cover from it. It'll look 98% stock.

I think they were trying to undercut the pacific price. Consumer wins!
