Nav-- Pioneer vs Eclipse vs Kenwood, Who's #1?

I reserched aftermarket navigation systems and came across three that look worthy. The Pioneer AVIC-N1, the Eclipse 2454 and the Kenwood P-NAV815. Dose anyone no which is the best and what the key diffrences are?

i was researching just like you about 2 months ago.. did a lot of extensive research and decided on the avic-n1.. never looked back.. it is definitely the best IMO.. don't get me wrong, i like the eclipse too and the both have their pros and cons.. i think in the end, u should go somewhere where you can play with them both and you'll decide which is best for you..

I have AVIC-N1 on my coupe now. But it has the least feature comparing to the other two in term of screen size, file-type support, and sound quality.
I love the style and feature on Eclipse 2454. The only drawback of eclipse is they are little bit pricey and the need of double-din conversion. Other than that, I think it's one of the best in US market right now.

Re: Nav-- Pioneer vs Eclipse vs Kenwood, Who's #1?

unless you do some type of custom fabrication to get the avic-n1 to fit somewhere else like the stock nav cubby or so, you would still need the double-din conversion

one other one that you missed is the kenwood ddx7015 with dvd nav unit.. this setup can be had for ~2k on ebay.. I prefer this setup over the eclipse because it has more audio settings.. only drawback is that the nav is not built in..

it just depends if you want the double din look (more stock look imo) like what a lot of cars are using.. or you want the flip up ones.. your call

Re: Nav-- Pioneer vs Eclipse vs Kenwood, Who's #1?

i chose the Eclipse cause of the double-din aspect, the flip-outs block the A/C controls and that would bug the he!! out of me...

it also looks the cleanest, and most "stock-looking"...

Re: Nav-- Pioneer vs Eclipse vs Kenwood, Who's #1?

If you're more interested in having an awesome Nav unit, then I'd go with the Eclipse AVN2454. But if you want a more flexible sound system, then the Kenwood would be a better choice. I was more interested in the Nav component and I feel that the Eclipse is a much superior unit than the Kenwood in this area. But the AVN does have its drawbacks. The ones that are most apparent to me is the inability to play all forms of mp3 and it's not prewired for satellite radio. You can hook up an external radio to the unit, but I want to be able to control the satellite radio from the AVN unit, which I can't. I didn't check out the Pioneer unit b/c I wanted a double din unit. HTH.

I am an authorized dealer for both the N1 and the AVN. We sell a bunch of both. I even have customers who have one in each of their cars. The overall opinion is for the AVN. It has many advantages. Please let me know if you need more information.

i would have to guess they are not a good company to deal with...

only based on the fact that they have not responded to my PMs and really don't provide much information in their posts except they carry blah and blah and have been blah and blah rated for blah and blah years

Re: Nav-- Pioneer vs Eclipse vs Kenwood, Who's #1?

I'm confused, I always thought that with the Pioneer you had to do a double din conversion? What navigations are out there which you DO NOT have to do the conversion and a lot of custom work?

Thanks.

Re: Nav-- Pioneer vs Eclipse vs Kenwood, Who's #1?

i'm still undecided at this point..there are so many pros and cons on all of them..

pratik97..all of them you will have to do a double din conversion..unless you can find a way to install it into the cubby hole, which people have done already..if you don't like that idea..then I suggest going the double din conversion

Re: Nav-- Pioneer vs Eclipse vs Kenwood, Who's #1?

Thanks, thats what I figured. I did research before and thats what was concluded. I think I'd like to keep my stock unit though instead of dealing with teh PAC to get my wheel controls. Its a lot of custom work though. Any idea how much a job like that costs at Tweeter?? Thanks.
